Tulsa's
Best Brew... We are asked daily, if our root beer is really homemade.
Our emphatic response is "Yes" and only a few family members have known
the recipe for years. In fact, there are only three people, presently
that know the recipe to Weber’s Superior Root Beer. To say the least,
our root beer is a closely guarded family secret.
The birth of Weber’s Root Beer is a common event that became legendary.
In the late 1800’s, Oscar Weber Bilby, known as "Web", to his family
and friends, purchased 640 acres west of present day Tulsa. He farmed
the land for many years to scratch out a living for his family. "Web",
like many of his neighbors, made his own root beer. His root beer was
made from 14 natural roots, barks, and juices, and had a very
distinctive taste. Neighbors would come from miles around just to get a
jug of the special brew. "Grandpa Web" was even visited one time, by
Frank and Jesse James, who had heard about the famous root beer. They
only stayed for a while, said they had a "train to catch".
"Grandpa Web" had no idea he had created what would commonly be known as "Tulsa’s BEST BREW".
Weber's
Root Beer is known as "Tulsa’s BEST BREW", due to the painstaking
brewing process. Each time a new batch of root beer is made, a small
amount is saved to seed the next batch. This "Batch Seed" process is
what has kept the taste the same since the late 1800’s. After the
"Batch Seed" has been poured into the new batch, the root beer is fire
brewed by one of our three family members. Finally after brewing, the
batch is flavor aged in Birch Bark Barrels.
The final product is still served in frosted mugs, just as it was in
1933. So literally, every sip of Weber's Superior Root Beer is a "TASTE OF HISTORY".
